Nicole | Homecoming - Ft. Drum photographer

"I like to see people reunited, I like to see people run to each other, I like the kissing and the crying, I like the impatience, the stories that the mouth can't tell fast enough, the ears that aren't big enough, the eyes that can't take in all of the change, I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone."
-Jonathan Safran Foer

Nicole greeted me with a hug and I immediately felt as if I was meeting up with an old friend even though we'd only met a few moments before. I guess that's one of the perks of being a military spouse- the instant connections and understanding of what a homecoming ceremony means to someone. She looked stunning and had a huge smile on her face, but I could feel her nerves & when I saw her eyes mist over a few times, I couldn't help but do the same. Nicole & Travis hadn't seen each other, and had barely spoken, for almost 9 months and now they were moments away from being reunited. The gym was packed that night, but the moment the soldiers were released and Nicole & Travis found one another, it was just the two of them and Travis' mother & sister. I don't think I will ever, ever get tired of homecoming ceremonies- the joy and love present is truly unspeakable.
